Cindy Silva announces her reelection bid for Walnut Creek City Council

Rossmoor News, July 21, 2010

After serving four years on the Walnut Creek City Council, Mayor Pro Tem Cindy Silva announced recently that she intends to run for reelection this November for a second four-year term. If reelected, Silva will serve as the city's next mayor.

In addition to working actively on the private fundraising for the new library - which raised more than $5 million - and with the Yes for Walnut Creek campaign, Silva said she is proud of her work to improve the council's community outreach efforts.

She championed the establishment of the council's booths at the downtown and Rossmoor Farmers' Markets and for the 2009 Community Conversations program, which was an integral part of the budget-balancing process. She also spearheaded the council's Rossmoor Liaison Program and has served as one of two council liaisons to that community for the past two years.

Currently, Silva represents the city in a number of regional capacities, including as chair of TRANSPAC, the regional transportation planning committee for Central Contra Costa. In that role, she is leading the central county effort on safe routes to schools issues, including crossing guards.
